We reserve the right to refuse any material if we believe it contains hazardous or non-accepted waste, is contaminated, or if there are concerns about its origin.
By bringing waste to us, you confirm that it is classified as controlled waste, produced within the UK, has not been imported, and that you have considered the waste hierarchy in its disposal.
When selling your metal to us, you also confirm that the material is your property and that you have full authority to sell it.
When visiting our site, you are required to follow all site rules.
These rules are in place to protect everyone’s safety, ensure smooth operations, and provide efficient service to you. If site rules are not followed, we may take action, which could include temporary or permanent removal from the site.
Site Rules
All drivers, visitors and customers must report to reception.
The speed limit on site is 10 mph.
Please obey all safety signage.
Be aware that dangerous heavy plant and machinery operate on this sight
Do not enter any restricted areas unless you are accompanied by a William Waugh staff member or authorised to do so by staff at reception.
Personal protective equipment comprising hard hat, high visibility jacket and safety footwear is mandatory for visitors and contractors; and highly recommended for customers.
Items we accept but don’t pay for
We’re happy to recycle the following items, but due to the high concrete content, we do not offer payment for them:
Washing machines
Some tumble dryers
Safes (must be unlocked or drilled through for acceptance)
If you’re bringing any of these items, please report to reception, and we’ll direct you on where to place them.
Items we do not accept
While we take almost anything made of metal, there are a few exclusions for safety reasons. We encourage you to dispose of these items responsibly:
Fridges and freezers
Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) containing lithium-ion batteries
Pressurised cylinders
Radioactive material
Loads contaminated with asbestos
Draught casks or kegs
general Public Sales
Unfortunately, we do not sell small quantities of metal, car parts, or individual pieces to the general public.
For safety reasons, public access to operational areas of our yard is not permitted.
